Terms of Service
Trod is a game you play by walking in the real world. These terms keep it fair, safe and sustainable — please read them, they are short.
1. Who we are
Trod is operated by Omar Ajruli, an individual developer based in Estonia. Contact: ajruli.omar@gmail.com. By installing or using Trod you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU, or the age of digital consent in your country).
- You can play as a guest or create an account (email or Google sign-in). Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for activity on your account.
- One account is for one person — please don’t share accounts.
3. What Trod is
Trod reveals a map of the real world as you physically walk through it, and tracks exploration progress, landmarks, quests and passport stamps. The base map and the world content come from third-party data and may contain errors — Trod is a game, not a navigation, safety or emergency tool.
4. Fair play
Trod is built around honest walking. You agree not to:
- Fake or spoof your location, or use tools that simulate movement.
- Pass off vehicle travel as walking to inflate progress.
- Interfere with, reverse engineer, or attempt to bypass the app’s data-integrity measures or access other users’ data.
- Use Trod for anything unlawful, or to harass or harm others.
We may remove progress earned in breach of these rules, and may suspend or close accounts for serious or repeated violations.
5. Walk safely — this matters
- Keep your eyes on the world, not the screen. Watch for traffic, obstacles, other people and terrain.
- Do not enter private property, restricted, dangerous or prohibited areas to reveal map. The map showing a place does not mean you may go there.
- Follow local laws and use common sense about where and when you walk.
- You play at your own risk; to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for injuries or losses arising from where or how you choose to walk.
6. Content and ownership
- The Trod app, its design, artwork and brand are ours. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for playing.
- Map data © MapTiler © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Your exploration progress is yours — you can delete it (and your account) at any time from inside the app.
7. Price
Trod’s core experience — walking, revealing the map, city progress and your atlas — is free. If optional paid extras (such as cosmetic upgrades) are added later, they will be clearly marked, and app-store refund policies will apply to them.
8. The service is provided “as is”
Trod depends on GPS, third-party map and weather services, and your device’s sensors — none of which are perfect. We provide the app “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of uninterrupted service, accuracy of map or location data, or fitness for a particular purpose. Progress may occasionally be affected by GPS error; we may correct obvious data faults.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claims arising from the app is limited to the greater of EUR 50 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of game progress caused by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including consumer rights in your country of residence).
10. Ending things
- You can stop using Trod and delete your account at any time (You › Settings › Delete Account, or see the deletion page).
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these terms, and may discontinue the service with reasonable notice.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes we will give at least 14 days’ notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Trod after that means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably belong to the courts of Estonia (Harju County Court, Tallinn), unless mandatory consumer law in your country of residence gives you the right to your local courts.
